The Hobbyist

While holding a part-time job I had an odd conversation with a co-worker.

One day several of us were sitting at tables in the employee lounge and the general discussion turned to the contentious issue of women working.

One of the women said her husband was an accountant. She told us her husband said that, because of the added expense of her needing a second car just to get to work, plus the additional income putting them into a higher IRS tax bracket – they were actually losing money; which naturally begged the question:

“Then, why are you working?”
“A hobby.” she whined.
